In 1971, Rotary International adopted the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program to promote leadership development for future leaders of our community. Since that time, local Rotary Clubs of District 5790 have sponsored one to five young men and women from various schools for camp RYLA so they may participate and learn valuable leadership skills. The sixty-nine Rotary Clubs of District 5790 will typically sponsor 140+ young leaders to attend this annual camp. Your local Rotary Club is inviting you to encourage young leaders you may know to apply for an opportunity to attend this year’s RYLA camp held June 27th-30th, 2024. The student must be a junior or senior in the fall of 2024 to be eligible. The leadership camp will be conducted at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. If the student is selected, the $450 cost for the camp will be paid by the local Rotary Club and the student will be responsible for incidental items only (toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.). It is very important to stress that students selected for sponsorship should not have a time conflict with the camp in June. Plans are already being made and cancellations will result in the loss of the club’s tuition and the opportunity for another student to attend camp RYLA. We have included a link to the online application which should only take a few minutes of the student’s time to complete. After completing the RFA, the full application will be emailed to you. You and your parents/guardians must complete the full application and sign the online forms What: An intensive leadership development program developed in 1971 by Rotary International for young leaders.

Let’s Make a Difference Together This Saturday at Our Flag Workday! As we approach this Saturday, May 3rd, I am reaching out to remind and inspire each of you to join us at 8 AM for our Flag Program workday. This is not just a chance to repair and install flags but a meaningful opportunity to contribute to our major fundraising efforts that benefit Youth, Community, and International initiatives. Here’s what we’ll be doing:
This event is crucial for maintaining the visibility and condition of our flags, symbols of our pride and commitment to the community. Remember, your skills, whether you are handy with a drill or have a keen eye for detail, are needed and appreciated. Plus, there’s a task for every skill level, so don’t hesitate to be part of this community effort! We also want to remind you about the additional backup workday on Saturday, May 10th, in case weather doesn't allow on May 3rd. Let’s come together not only to fulfill our duties as Rotarians but to enjoy the camaraderie and community spirit that these workdays foster. Please confirm your attendance by replying to this email, and feel free to bring along a fellow Rotarian who might not have signed up yet. Thank you for your commitment and enthusiasm. Together, we can achieve great things for our community and beyond. Looking forward to seeing you all this Saturday! |
